Valentine Celebration

It has been a fun week at our house.  My Mom and Dad flew in for a visit, and as soon as they were slightly rested up from traveling, we had a Valentine Celebration.  I invited some friends and neighbors with small kids to celebrate a day of love and friendship.  It was a little crazy with about 15 kids and 7 or so adults, but we had a great time.  The sun-dried tomato dip with fresh pita chips and red velvet cheesecake bars I made certainly helped the festivities.  And the slide Grandma Andrea gave Morgan for Christmas was a hit!

I know I'm biased, but this little girl is the cutest Valentine ever!

Malia and Layla did not want to be in the group picture earlier, and then Morgan wouldn't turn around to be in a picture with them, she just wanted to look at them instead.  Oh the fun of trying to get 3 little girls to look at the camera at the same time!

Thanks to Skype, Morgan hasn't skipped a beat with my Mom and Dad.  There has been zero adjustment time!  She just seems to love having extra people in the house to play with!

February's wreath

So in January I announced my goal to make a new wreath every month this year.  Here's February's wreath.  I found a heart wreath form at the DI for about $2.  And that was the only thing I had to buy.  The other things I had on hand, but if you had to buy it all, you could still make this wreath for about $5.  I covered it with pink yarn, made pink, red, and white felt roses, and put on some pretty ribbon.  Ta Da.  I love this one.

2nd wreath - Check.

Any ideas for March?

January 2012

Wow!  January was a busy month.  Nate went back to college after a break of several years, Morgan had her fifteen month appointment, and we had a cold and flu bug hit our house!  And then the month was over.

Since we were married, Nate and I have discussed him going back to school (okay, a little more of me pushing it than discussing it).  And now he has!  I am so excited for him and proud of him.  He started full time at Salt Lake Community College, where he has to retake some general classes because of the time that has elapsed since he was in school before.  So my wonderful husband is working full-time and going to school full-time just so I can be home with Morgan.  I am amazed at his motivation and willingness to work 14-16 hour days, just to get it all done.  With the help of Ikea, we set up a little office for him (nothing fancy), and Morgan loves to play in it.  So she spends some time with him there while he does school work and I do some tutoring.  She especially loves to spin in the office chair.

Morgan had her fifteen month check up this month.  She is doing great, but still not gaining much weight.  At 12 months she weighed 19 pounds 14 ounces, and at 15 months weighed just over 20 pounds.  She's just not a good drinker.  Her doctor isn't worried about her, she seems happy and healthy, we're just trying to get her to drink more milk.  And she is 29 inches long.  Overall, on the small side, but we sure love every ounce of her!  Her doctor commented that she was the happiest patient he had all week, and I would agree!  She is such a happy independent little person.  She still loves books, and she'll actually spend 20-30 minutes on her own looking at them.  She's not walking on her own yet, but that doesn't stop her from getting into everything.  She cruises along furniture and walls, loves to play with blocks and balls.  But her favorite toy, of course, is the hot cocoa container I cleaned out for her.  She puts blocks in it, puts on the lid, and beats it like a bongo drum.  She still loves her doll I named Susie.  She can find her belly button, feet, teeth, eyes, hair, and sometimes her nose.  She does pat-a-cake, itsy-bitsy spider, and peek-a-boo.  And plays tug with Boog.

Did I mention Morgan loves cartoons?  Is it bad that I let her love them?  She especially loves Caillou, but pretty much will watch anything on Sprout.  It is a pretty cute channel.  Nevermind the fact that everywhere Nate and I go we're seeing the theme song for Berenstain Bears or Thomas.  But seriously, when Caillou comes on, don't talk to her, don't mess with her, she's down to business.

Don't you love the glazed look in her eyes?
